Existing Building has been demolished.
Phase II: New building construction and park improvement:
Construction is complete.
The project provides for the planning and design of a new building to replace the Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center located at 14715 Good Hope Road, Silver Spring, Maryland. The new 14,000 gross square foot building is expected to be located on the existing site of the MN-CPPC Good Hope Park. The Park is located in a Special Protection Area, SPA zone.
The existing 6620 square foot facility, which was built in the 1970s is outdated, undersized in capacity, does not meet ADA standards. Key building systems such as structural system, exterior walls, elevators, roof, HVAC and electrical system have surpassed their useful service life.
The project will be designed to qualify for a Silver rating of the US Green Building Council for New Construction.
Montgomery County Department of Recreation in partnership with the Strathmore will provide Art/Music and educational activities in the new Good Hope Neighborhood Recreation Center (NRC). This is the first time this innovative program is initiated in relation to the recreation center activities.
