The Council Office Building Garage is planned to be renovated in multiple phases while occupied to minimize the impact to available parking spaces for users. The purpose of the renovation is to address concrete, structural steel and masonry deteriorations. Limited plumbing renovation will be performed to replace rusted drainpipes, floor drains and sprinkler pipes. The electrical upgrades will enhance light levels and security lighting at the perimeter of the building. Existing hazardous materials such as asbestos and lead based paint will be abated. The parking decks will be treated with waterproof coating. The parking stalls will be updated to accommodate required spaces for people with disability. New directional signs and striping will be provided for all levels.
Phase 2 – Stair Towers RenovationThis phase deal with the rehabilitation of all five stair towers at the Council Office Building Garage. Condition assessment determined that they are in poor condition and in need of immediate repair/replacement as their structural elements have reached the end of their service life. It is planned to do the renovation one stair tower at a time to minimize the impact to users.
