What?

To celebrate Community Service Month, MCDOT is sponsoring a collection of child and adult bikes, and bike parts in partnership with Rockville Bike Hub and Bikes for the World.

Why?

Rockville Bike Hub’s volunteers refurbish the bikes and then donate them to low-income children and adults in the County through Terrific Kids program. This year, Bikes for the World is partnering with us to accept donations of bikes that are beyond Rockville Bike Hub’s ability to repair.

There are three ways to help:

  • Drop off your old bikes and bike parts on October 18.
  • Donate by check to Rockville Bike Hub during the collection or online.  All donated funds will be used to purchase bike helmets and parts to repair the bikes.
  • Organize a bike collection at your school, place of worship, etc. Bring the bikes to Rockville on October 18, or MCDOT will collect 10 or more bikes at your location.
