1. What changes are happening to Montgomery County’s banking and payment systems?
Starting in 2026, Montgomery County will migrate its banking services to JP Morgan Chase and online credit card and ACH/eCheck processing to Paymentus

2. Why is the County making these changes?
The changes are due to new contracts with JP Morgan Chase and Paymentus, aimed at improving user experience and expanding payment options.

3. What new payment options will be available?
Customers will be able to pay using:
  • credit cards
  • ACH/eCheck
  • Digital wallets (e.g., Apple Pay, Google Pay, PayPal, Venmo)
    NOTE: some online payment apps may not support all available payment options.
4. Will there be any fees for payments?
  • ACH/eCheck: No additional fee.
  • Credit card or digital wallet: A 2.45% service fee will apply when choosing this method of payment (some programs may absorb this fee based on County law or business decision).
5. Can customers still schedule future payments?
Some programs, such as property tax online payments, will continue to offer the ability to schedule future payments.

6. What changes will customers notice during the transition?
  • Banking transactions will be processed by JP Morgan Chase.
  • Online payments will be hosted by and processed by Paymentus.
7. What action is required for ACH/eCheck payments from business bank accounts?
Businesses with debit blocks or filters must authorize debits from Paymentus (ACH Company ID 0000408976). Failure to do so may result in returned payments.

8. What action is required for applications requiring login credentials?
If the app you are using has been updated to the County’s new user authentication, iamMoCo (see screenshot below), you will be prompted to change your password.

9. How does the County ensure payment security?
The new Paymentus platform uses secure, encrypted technology and complies with industry standards to protect payment and personal information.

10. Will customers still receive paper bills?
Yes, programs that currently provide paper bills will continue to do so.  In the future, some programs may enable customers to sign up and opt for eBills for faster, paperless delivery.

11. What other payment channels are available?
In addition to online payments, customers can pay property taxes by phone using IVR (Interactive Voice Response).

12. Are there payment options that do not incur a fee?
Yes.   ACH/eCheck payments do not incur a fee.

13. When will these changes take effect?
The migration will occur gradually throughout 2026 completing in late 2027.
