Call Access to Behavioral Health Services at 240-777-1770. The Outpatient Addiction and Mental Health Services Program is not able to accept walk-ins or direct referrals.

Photo identification, income verification and a copy of an award letter for public benefits if applicable. 

Eligibility Requirements

Montgomery County residents age 18 and older with a serious mental illness and a substance dependence disorder who does not have private insurance.  

Fees and Payments

No private insurances are accepted. The program does accept Medicaid.

FAQ's

  1. How much does the service cost?
    Fees are based on a sliding scale . No one is denied services based on inability to pay but verification of income and financial status is required.
     
  2. How are medications provided for those who do not have Medical Assistance or Medicare? 
    Medication is  available through MedBank;  HHS Pharmacy and/or through the availability of sample medications.
     
  3. Is service time limited? 
    The duration of service is based on the individual client’s needs and is not pre-determined.
     
  4. Does the program serve undocumented clients? 
    Services are not affected or determine by an individual’s immigration status.
     
  5. Are substance abuse services provided?
    S
    ervices meet the requirements for Intensive Outpatient (nine or more hours of service weekly), Outpatient (less then nine hours of service weekly), and Continuing Care (need assessed in three month intervals).
     
  6. 6.   Are bilingual staff available?
    There are therapists available with Spanish language capability and other languages may be accommodated through the Language Line .
     
  7. Does OAMHS accept commercial insurance?
    Private insurance is not accepted.
     
  8. Does OAMHS work with children or adolescents? 
    No.  OAMHS works with adults, age 18 and up, but does work with the families of clients. 9.   Are case management services available? OAMHS provides office based case management services such as assisting with benefits applications, collaborating with other providers, and advocating for and coordinating delivery of medical services 10. Does the OAMHS provide housing or day treatment services? No, the OAMHS Program does not provide housing or day treatment services but we are able to assist in obtaining shelter placement, group housing when available.  We can also assist with coordinating and advocating on behalf of clients with other providers who offer these services.
