The purpose of the Parent and Youth Engagement Committee is to build a committee that is community-driven and led with an emphasis on equity and closing service gaps. The committee will take a collaborative approach to identify and connect community members with opportunities and assets in the East County, as well as introduce new opportunities for committee members to serve as liaisons for harder-to- reach populations such as teens and young adults, and parents. The group has also created a mission statement that exemplifies the goals of the committee-- "to amplify voices and put East County needs to action through engaging parents and youth.

The Office of Community Engagement takes Montgomery College beyond the campus and into the community through community engagement centers, partnerships with nonprofits, community events, and grassroots outreach. As the face of Montgomery College in the community, our primary job is to empower students and county residents by connecting those in underserved and under-represented communities with the College. We are ready to help anyone find the next step toward success and achieve their potential. Our staff speak many languages, and we offer translation and interpretation services.

The Planning Department aims to improve quality of life by conserving and enhancing the natural and built environment for current and future generations. The Planning Department creates great communities by developing master plans, reviewing applications for development, and analyzing various types of information to help public officials plan for Montgomery County’s future. Each community within Montgomery County has a master plan that creates a comprehensive view of land use trends and future development. Some jurisdictions within Montgomery County—such as the cities of Rockville and Gaithersburg and smaller taxing districts such as Poolesville—have independent planning and zoning authority over land within their boundaries. Contact those jurisdictions directly for information about properties within their borders.
Montgomery County Recreation provides high quality, diverse and accessible programs, services and facilities that enhance the quality of life for all ages, cultures, and abilities to residents in Montgomery County.
The Neighborhood Safety Net Program helps Montgomery County residents secure the resources they need and navigate the complexities of the government and other safety-net services available. We offer free assistance with applications and referrals to services to help individuals and families reach self-sufficiency and obtain the information and resources that they need.
