Services We Offer

Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services Dental Program offers the following services:

  • Oral Examinations/Radiographs (x-rays)
  • Dental prophylaxis (cleaning and polish)
  • Fluoride applications and sealants
  • Fillings
  • Extractions/Oral Surgery (limited)
  • Root Canal Therapy (based on consultation)
  • Emergency Treatment
  • Crowns and Dentures (limited)
  • Oral Health Education

Local participating dentists provide services at reduced fees through our Dental Connections Program provide link to, using a county sliding fee scale, to eligible residents of all ages. These dental services can be provided after a referral is made from the county dental program.

Eligibility

  • Montgomery County Resident
  • Family income no greater than 250% of federal poverty guidelines (FPL) for all dental service programs (Children and Adults) except for the Ryan White HIV Dental Program. Family income for the Ryan White HIV Dental Program is up to 500% of FPL.
  • Uninsured or have no dental insurance
  • Children must be enrolled in the Care for Kids program before seeking dental treatment OR
  • Montgomery County residents eligible for the Maryland Healthy Smiles Adult Medicaid program (Adults over the age of 21 and pregnant women)

Documents To Bring

You must provide proof that Montgomery County and proof of the family income. The following documents may be used to provide proof of eligibility:

  • Identity: birth certificate, passport, school ID or report card (children)
  • Montgomery County Residency: mortgage, lease, utility bill, driver’s license, official county or state document, mortgage or lease driver’s license and current utility bill
  • Family Income: Four weeks of pay stubs, letter from employer, recent Federal Income tax return, Social Security award letter, alimony or child support statement, etc.).

How to Apply

Available Now: You can apply for county dental services online starting Jan 1st, 2025 using our new Community Connect Portal. This offers a convenient way to apply for and manage your County Health Programs benefits. The following programs offer Dental Services:

  • Care for Kids (children)
  • Adult Dental (Adults and Seniors)

If you are enrolled in the Montgomery Cares Program:

This is a group of community-based health care providers that provide medical care and access to oral health care to uninsured adults in Montgomery County. Eligibility for the program is determined at one of the participating health centers where staff can assist with eligibility determination. The Montgomery Cares clinics will provide the county dental program information needed for the sliding fee scale discount program and your eligibility status. If you or your child are already enrolled in the Care for Kids, Adult Dental, Senior Dental or Medicaid/Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program (MHSDP), call the County dental clinic closest to your home to schedule an appointment for a dental check-up or other services.
