Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP)
The Maryland Children's Health Program (MCHP) provides free or low-cost health care for children from birth to age 19 and for pregnant women of any age who are low income and uninsured. The State of Maryland operates this program, also called the Maryland HealthChoice Program. Individuals in MCHP/HealthChoice choose a Managed Care Organization (MCO) after they enroll. The MCO provides a list of doctors and enrollees must choose a doctor from that list. Covered services include: doctor visits, hospital care, lab tests, dental care, prescription medicines, mental health services and specialists.
