What is the Point-in-time (PIT)?
The PIT is an annual survey of homeless persons in Montgomery County who are residing in sheltered and unsheltered environments. Volunteers will be going out late evening (7:30 p.m. - 1:00 a.m.) on the night of Wednesday, January 27 to designed locations and the morning of Thursday, January 28 at 4:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. for the Gaithersburg/Germantown/Damascus areas to survey homeless persons.
How is the information used?
The information provides the County Executive, County Council and Federal Government with a census count of the number of homeless persons with and without children.
What can you do to help?
We need help completing the PIT survey. Volunteers will be going out late evening
Wednesday, January 27 and early morning Thursday, January 28 to designated locations.

All volunteers must preregister by January 25 - Volunteers must be at least 18 years of age to participate
- Volunteers must attend a mandatory training on the night of the PIT, Wednesday, January 27 at 7:30 p.m. at 1301 Piccard Drive, 1st Floor Conference Room, Rockville, Maryland 20850. At the conclusion of the training, teams will be formed and volunteers will be sent out to various locations throughout Montgomery County seeking homeless persons to complete the survey.
