Community Action Board (CAB)
CAB serves in an advisory capacity to the County Executive and County Council, and as an advocate on behalf of lower-income County residents. CAB also serves as the governing body for the Community Action Agency and Head Start. Members are appointed by the County Executive and confirmed by the County Council. The CAB typically meets the on 4th Tuesday of the month (except in July, August and December) at 6 pm. The CAB Executive Committee meets on the 2nd Tuesday of every month at 6 pm. All meetings are virtual unless otherwise specified.

Community Advocacy Institute (CAI)

Participants must be residents of Montgomery County with a household income of $60,000 or less. Successful completion of the CAI includes participation in all workshops throughout the eight-month program and completion of an advocacy project. The CAI runs October through May. Recruitment for the 2023 - 2024 CAI will begin in July 2023.
2022 Community Advocacy Institute Graduation

Created by the Community Action Board in 2016, the Community Advocacy Instiute (CAI) is an 8-month advocacy training program for lower-income Montgomery County residents. This year, 21 participants successfully completed the program and participated in a graduation on May 24 at Bohrer Park. The event included remarks from Community Action Board members, elected officials, and DHHS leadership. Learn more about the CAI HERE.
