Massage Therapist | Licensing & Permit Process
A Massage Therapist holds a current license from the Board of Massage Therapy Examiners to practice either as a Licensed Massage Therapist (LMT) or a Registered Massage Practitioner (RMP) working either for a massage therapy establishment or independent practice in the State of Maryland. Any person practicing massage therapy in Montgomery County must register with the Montgomery County Department of Health and Human Services, Licensure and Regulatory Services.

Massage Therapist Registration Process Guide
Any person practicing as a massage therapist in Montgomery County must register with Licensure & Regulatory Services each year. For those registering for the first time and those renewing a registration, you must:
- Come in person to the offices of Licensure and Regulatory Services (2425 Reedie Drive, 9th floor, Wheaton, MD)
- Present a Maryland State Board of Massage Therapy Examiners license (expired licenses are not accepted)
- Present a letter from their employer
- Present a government-issued photo ID
