Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA)

The Montgomery County Police Department is pleased to offer H.R. 18 – (Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act) for MCPD retirees. This training is only offered to those officers who retired from the MCPD and who meet the standards set forth by the law.

LEOSA Handgun Certification Procedures (If your application has not been returned to the office as completed by the Wednesday prior to your scheduled date, you will be contacted to reschedule.)

LEOSA Retiree Registration Form (In an effort to continue to meet Federal law and MPTC guidelines, we are advising all shooters to bring a magazine pouch and spare magazine for semi-auto pistols and a speed loader and pouch for a revolver. The new course of fire for 2017 will be similar to the old course but will include a timed reload and turning targets now that the training will be held at the new indoor range.  It is advisable that you practice reloading for your handgun prior to your scheduled leosa training date.)

2017 LEOSA Firearm Qualification Dates:

Start time : 0800 hours

1/13, 2/3, 3/3, 4/7, 5/5, 6/2, 7/7, 8/4, 9/1, 10/6, 11/3, and 12/1.

PLEASE NOTE:  Classes are limited to 25 participants.  Classes with low enrollment or unforeseen issues with date conflicts are subject to be cancelled.  You will be notified by telephone should this occur.
