Bringing Broadband to the Agricultural Reserve

Images & Video

Over 100 residents living within a rural, low density population area of Montgomery County, MD do not have access to reliable access to broadband internet connections. However, just like most people living in this modern age, their lives would benefit tremendously from reliable, high-speed broadband connections. Yet, because of the challenges of earning a sufficient profit from low density areas, Montgomery County's cable/broadband franchisees were reluctant to provide a solution. However, thanks to the strategic negotiations of the Office of Cable and Broadband Services, Comcast has agreed to share the costs of building an infrastructure that will facilitate internet connectivity for each household. On March 21st, Comcast, the Office of Cable & Broadband Services and this community came together to discuss the proposed plan to bring broadband to this underserved area.
