Giulia McPherson was appointed to the Commission in July 2014. She is the Assistant Director for Policy at Jesuit Refugee Service/USA, a non-governmental organization operating in more than 50 countries to meet the educational, health, and social needs of refugees and other forcibly displaced persons.  Prior to joining JRS, Giulia was a member of CARE USA’s Policy and Advocacy team for 11 years, most recently as Director of Citizen Advocacy.  Giulia has a Bachelors in Political Science from Villanova University and a Masters in International Development Studies from The George Washington University.  She serves as Chair of the Board of Directors for Educate2Envision International, an NGO working to empower young people in Honduras, and is a native of Montgomery County, currently residing in Bethesda.
