Lorna Forde

Lorna Phillips Forde is a 25 year resident of Germantown, MD and was appointed to the Commission in July, 2012 where she has served as 1st Vice President and Chair (2016) and Co-Chair (2015) of the Annual Women's Legislative Briefing. She is a small Business owner in Montgomery County and a certified contracts manager with over 20 years of professional experience in finance and contract management. She holds a Master’s in Business Administration degree in Finance from the University of Pittsburgh and a Certification in Contracts Management from the Florida Institute of Technology. Through her various affiliations, she has a long history of serving and advocating for women and children in the community.  She is a Gubernatorial appointee and serves on the Maryland Commission for Women as Co-Chair of the annual Women of Tomorrow Awards program. She also serves on the board of the Jewish Council for the Aging and is actively involved in the community through membership with the Silver Spring MD Chapter of The Links, Inc. and also Montgomery County (MD) Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. where she served as President 2009-2013. Ms. Forde is a former board member of the Menare Foundation, is a member of the 2011 class of LeadershipMontgomery and supports Montgomery County as a member of the African American Advisory Council and the Montgomery Sister Cities Board. Ms. Forde also serves as Vice Chair of The People's Foundation, associated with The People's Community Baptist Church.
