Mia DeMezza

Mia DeMezza has dedicated her career to nonprofit leadership, youth development, and education. Since joining EarthEcho International in 2006—a nonprofit founded by renowned conservationist Philippe Cousteau—she has played a pivotal role in shaping the organization's growth and impact, serving as Executive Director until her recent, planned departure. Under her leadership, EarthEcho expanded its global reach, engaging over 2 million participants in 150+ countries. She oversaw all aspects of the organization's strategy, operations, fundraising, and program execution, cultivating high-impact partnerships and securing major funding to advance EarthEcho’s mission of empowering young environmental leaders.

Prior to EarthEcho, she held midlevel leadership roles at Americans for the Arts and the Wolf Trap Foundation for the Performing Arts, where she directed national professional development programs, grantmaking initiatives, and large-scale community engagement efforts. She also worked in the healthcare sector at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center’s European Medical Division, contributing to the establishment of an international transplantation hospital in Sicily.

Mia holds an MBA from Loyola University Maryland and a Bachelor of Arts from Northwestern University. A lifelong learner and passionate advocate for education and community engagement, she has served on multiple boards and has most recently volunteered as an alumni mentor and grant review panelist. A native of western Pennsylvania, Mia and her family reside in Maryland.
