White Flint West Workaround

The White Flint West Workaround project will realign the southern portion of Executive Boulevard to connect with Grand Park Avenue, create a new east/west business street (Main/Market Street) adjacent to the Conference Center, continue Hoya/Towne Road through from Montrose to Old Georgetown Road, and relocate and reconfigure the current intersection of Old Georgetown Road and Executive Boulevard. The CIP funding provides for construction of one new road (Main/Market Street, B-10), one relocated road (Executive Boulevard Extended, B-15), and an intersection relocation with improvements to Old Georgetown Road (MD187, M-4A) and Towne Road (M-4A, formerly Hoya Street). The various improvements include new traffic lanes, shared use paths, a separated bicycle lane, on-road bicycle lanes, sidewalks, undergrounding of utilities where required, stormwater management, street lights and landscape. For more information, please visit our White Flint Project website .

The construction will be phased. Phase 1 includes the portion of Main/Market Street east of existing Executive Boulevard and Executive Boulevard Extended south of Main/Market Street. Phase 1 construction will be completed in FY18 and is coordinated with the construction of a new parking garage for the North Bethesda Conference Center. The remainder of the roadway construction and utility relocation work is currently scheduled to start in FY18 and will be completed in FY21.
