2022 Middle School Snowplow Naming Contest

MCDOT provided middle schools in Montgomery County with the opportunity to name and decorate a snowplow during Public Works Week (May 15-21, 2022). Snowplows were dropped off at interested schools on May, 16 and picked up on May 20. The plows were on display at MCDOT's Truck Day event on Saturday, May 21. Attendees were able to cast a vote for their favorite design. See the related press release here

1st Place: John Poole M.S."Kaplow"

 

 

2nd Place: Kingsview M.S. "Melted"

 

3rd Place: Eastern M.S. "Be Transformed"

 

Thank you, middle school students! MCDOT received 14 total entries and they were all extremely well done. All of the decorated plows will be used in clearing snow this winter. Look out for them in your neighborhood.

Truck Day

Join in on this FREE, family-friendly event on Saturday, May 21 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the MCDOT Gaithersburg Depot, 17000 Crabbs Branch Way, Gaithersburg, MD 20855.

Truck Day is a great experience for children, who will get a chance to sit in County trucks and learn about what they do. Vendors give out free giveaways. 

Attendees will be able to cast a vote for their favorite 'Paint the Plow' Middle School Snowplow Naming Contest. There will be a number of snowplows that have been named and painted by local Montgomery County middle school students that attendees will be asked to judge. Winning schools receive cash prizes.
