Jake Weissmann

Yaakov “Jake” Weissmann joined the Office of the County Executive as the Assistant Chief Administrative Officer after his appointment by County Executive Marc Elrich and the unanimous approval of the Montgomery County Council in 2021. As Assistant Chief Administrative Officer, he is responsible for assisting the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) in managing the operations and performance of County Government by providing administrative oversight to the directors of County departments and ensuring effective and efficient delivery of services, and compliance with policies, procedures, and regulations. He plays a key role in the County’s Economic Development strategies and provides recommendations to the County Executive and the CAO on a broad range of issues and policies. Aside from economic development, his departmental focuses include Environmental Protection, Housing & Community Affairs, Permitting Services, Transportation, as well as several inter-governmental agencies, and utility policies.
Jake currently represents the County Executive as an ex-officio board member on the Board of the Montgomery County Economic Development Corporation, and the Montgomery County Revenue Authority.
Jake brings legislative and State operations experience to Montgomery County. Most recently, he served as chief of staff for the Office of the Senate President for the Maryland State Senate, for Senate President Bill Ferguson, and former Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr.. As Chief of Staff, Jake was responsible for oversight of the Senate, including policy, communications, and operations, including ensuring the Senate operated smoothly during the COVID-19 pandemic. Jake began his career in the General Assembly as Legislative Aide for Montgomery County Delegate Kirill Reznik.
He serves on the Board of the Maryland Student Legislature, the Community Advisory Board for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC) School of Social Work, and teaches Religious School at Temple Beth Shalom in Arnold, MD. In 2020, he was named a VIP by The Daily Record's for professionals under 40.
Jake earned his Bachelor of Arts in Social Work & Psychology from the University of Maryland, Baltimore County in 2006, his Master of Social Work from the University of Maryland, Baltimore in 2007, and his Juris Doctor (JD) with honors from the University of Baltimore School of Law in 2016.
