Health and Wellness Committee
The workgroup hosts guest speakers who provide critical information about community resources. Participating members share updates about services and resources their organization is providing. The workgroup collaborates on community events and activities planning and help promote each other's activities in the community. Community members also share their concerns and suggestions for ways to improve the quality of life of East County residents.
The workgroup members meet virtually every other Thursday at noon.

The purpose of the Health and Wellness Committee is to build a sustainable, comprehensive social service network that serves the residential areas within the East County region. The committee has recruited and involved representatives across the health and wellness services spectrum to increase representation and gain better insight into the needs of East County residents. The committee continues to meet to strategize and plan various activities aimed at improving health and wellness opportunities within East County.

CareerCatchers is a 501(c)(3) organization dedicated to working with low-income, as well as unemployed and under-employed residents of the Washington metropolitan area. Through personalized individual and group services, Career Catchers provides employment and job skills counseling to ensure stable employment, identify and encourage participation in workplace skills and training programs, enhance self-esteem, and foster empowerment.

Community Engagement and Consultation Group Inc. is a nonprofit organization that vows to support communities, businesses, and other nonprofits by executing agendas through mobilization and capacity building. Some of our initiatives and services include: SNAP and Medicaid enrollment, affordable healthcare and food resource referrals, workforce development programs, free clothing/household items available to the public, and more. Established in 2017, Ce-Cg utilizes a whole-person health perspective along with a targeted case-management approach to advance health equity across the capital region, one community at a time.

Aging and Disability Services is a part of Montgomery County Health and Human Services. We provide a wide range of programs and services to older adults and people with disabilities. Our programs are funded by federal, state and local dollars. Some programs are open to all while others are income based. Our Aging and Disability Resource Unit can provide information and referral services to all county residents. Staff can accommodate different languages needs.

The East County Coordination program is based at the East County Regional Services Center. Staff connect individuals and families with resources in the county and provide on-going care coordination services. Staff create action plans to identify additional resources available to families and individuals that support goals. Care coordination staff also respond to emergent situations and provide individualized care coordination to those with emergency needs.

The East County Village Senior is an organization led and run by older adults who live in East County and wish to age at home. We meet at the East County Community Center. Our primary objective is to establish an organization in eastern Montgomery County where members will have access to ,a directory of recommended vendors who provide professional services , volunteer services, information on aging related services, health and Wellness classes and social activities.

Everyday Canvassing knocks on doors and talks to folks on streets about what they like and what they want to see change in Montgomery County. The relationships we build through canvassing bring new people into community organizations, activism for their community, and teaches our government what our community's most pressing areas of improvement are. At each door or street interaction, we typically distribute flyers with community resources and events. Recently, we have been knocking doors at Yorkshire Apartments, Castle Boulevard, and the Enclave apartments.

The Kingdom Cares East County HUB is a community-based effort that engages with surrounding schools, apartment complexes, neighborhoods and other locations to connect with underserved, disengaged and isolated groups. The primary service area of the HUB includes the Briggs Chaney, Burtonsville, Calverton, Fairland, Hillandale and White Oak communities.

Manna Food Center is a non-profit organization working to eliminate hunger through food distribution, education, and advocacy. Their vision is a community where all people at all times have access to safe, sufficient, nutritious food in order to lead fulfilling lives and contribute to making our neighborhoods a place where all live in dignity.
Maryland Health Benefit Exchange (MHBE) is responsible for the administration of Maryland Health Connection, the state’s health insurance marketplace, under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (ACA). MHBE provides accessible, affordable health coverage to Marylanders.

Mobile Medical Care is a Federally Qualified Health Center providing primary health care for low-income, uninsured and underinsured Montgomery County residents. Their goal is to improve the health of individuals facing significant barriers in accessing health care. The staff and volunteer clinicians strive to deliver comprehensive health care in a culturally appropriate manner.
With changes in health care caused by the pandemic, MobileMed adapted by implementing telehealth services, expanding case management, and reinforcing outreach to those who may have deferred care, in order to provide high-quality care for those facing health disparities.
Montgomery County Recreation provides high quality, diverse and accessible programs, services and facilities that enhance the quality of life for all ages, cultures, and abilities to residents in Montgomery County.
The Muslim Community Center Medical Clinic is dedicated to providing compassionate and high-quality healthcare services to the adult population of our community regardless of race, color, religion, ethnicity, or national origin of the recipient. The clinic started as a primary care clinic but now offers services in several other specialty areas, such as cardiology, Gynecology, gastroenterology, oncology, dermatology, psychiatry, optometry, and physical therapy. The Clinic also runs programs for domestic violence prevention and offers mental health counseling.

For the past thirty years, RTMC has provided free home repairs and accessibility modifications to help income-qualifying homeowners remain safely and independently in their homes. As a non-profit organization, we partner with local volunteers, businesses, and contractors in the community to provide our services. Our program is designed to help those who have no other means to complete needed repairs, and there is never any cost to the homeowner.
