East County Community Initiative | Parent Youth Engagement Committee
The workgroup meets to discuss situations, experiences and hosts occasional guests to share resources. Participating members share updates about services and resources their organization is providing. The workgroup collaborates on community events and activities planning and help promote each other's activities in the community. Community members also share their concerns and suggestions for ways to improve the quality of life of parents, youth and young adults living in East County.
The workgroup members meet virtually on the third Monday of the month at 11 am.

The purpose of the Parent and Youth Engagement Committee is to build a committee that is community-driven and led with an emphasis on equity and closing service gaps. The committee will take a collaborative approach to identify and connect community members with opportunities and assets in the East County, as well as introduce new opportunities for committee members to serve as liaisons for harder-to- reach populations such as teens and young adults, and parents. The group has also created a mission statement that exemplifies the goals of the committee-- "to amplify voices and put East County needs to action through engaging parents and youth.

The mission of Communibuild Foundation, Inc. Is to build and empower communities through the art of sustainable community building. The goal of the organization is to build strategically impactful and self-sustainable program models in the communities we serve. Our goal is to actively reignite the sense of Unity within our Communities from the inside out by establishing collaborative mechanisms for F.O.O.D. (Funding Our Own Development)™.
The East County Coordination program is based at the East County Regional Services Center. Staff connect individuals and families with resources in the county and provide on-going care coordination services. Staff create action plans to identify additional resources available to the client that support goals. In addition, care coordination staff also respond to emergent situations and provide individualized care coordination to those with emergency needs.

The primary service area of the HUB includes the Briggs Chaney, Burtonsville, Calverton, Fairland, Hillandale and White Oak communities.

The Office of Community Engagement takes Montgomery College beyond the campus and into the community through community engagement centers, partnerships with nonprofits, community events, and grassroots outreach. As the face of Montgomery College in the community, our primary job is to empower students and county residents by connecting those in underserved and under-represented communities with the College. We are ready to help anyone find the next step toward success and achieve their potential. Our staff speak many languages, and we offer translation and interpretation services.
