Medicaid/Maryland Healthy Smiles Dental Program (MHSDP)

An individual may qualify for this program if they meet the following criteria:

  • Montgomery County Resident
  • United States citizens
  • Non-citizens (e.g. undocumented, non-qualified alien) who does not qualify for Medicaid solely due to immigration status
  • Currently pregnant and application submitted prior to the final day of their pregnancy
  • Income up to 250% of the federal poverty level

Montgomery Cares

An individual may qualify for this program if they meet the following criteria:

  • Montgomery County Resident
  • Age 18 or older
  • Uninsured
  • Income at or below 250% of the Federal Poverty Level
  • Not be enrolled or eligible for health insurance including Medicaid, Medicare, commercial insurance or employee-sponsored coverage

Community Dental Programs

School-Based Dental Services

The county dental program has partnered with Montgomery County Public Schools to provide dental services for students at select schools throughout the county. The dental services are provided on school premises during normal school hours. Dental services include but are not limited to:

  • Screenings/exams
  • Cleanings
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Sealants

Dental Connections Program

The county dental program has partnered with dentists and dental organizations in the community to provide dental services for children and adults throughout the county. The dental services are provided onsite at the dental office in the community during their normal hours of business. The program is based on the availability of funding. Dental services include but are not limited to:

  • Exams
  • Cleanings
  • Fluoride treatments
  • Fillings
  • Extractions
  • Root Canals
  • Crowns
  • Dentures

A sliding fee discount program discounts the costs for these dental services. Patient income and family size are used to determine the dental services fess. To be eligible for this program individuals must:

  • Be actively eligible and enrolled in the county dental services program
  • Have received a screening or exam by a DHHS dentist/dental hygienist
  • Have signed the program participation guidelines and HIPPA forms
