July 8, 2019 Flood Assistance

On July 8, 2019, Montgomery County and surrounding areas experienced a period of intense, heavy rain that led to flooding, downed trees and power lines, and many swift water rescues. On July 11, 2019, the County opened the Damage Assessment Portal to gather information and data on damages caused by the July 8 flood event. The data collected through the damage assessment portal helped to determine if the County met the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) eligibility threshold to apply for federal funding. No jurisdictions, including Montgomery County, met FEMA's criteria for individual assistance for this event.

The U.S. Small Business Administration Offers Disaster Loan Assistance

Our neighbors in surrounding jurisdictions also experienced damage related to this event. As such, the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) declared a disaster for Arlington, VA. As a contiguous County to Arlington County, Montgomery County is eligible for SBA Disaster Loan Assistance. The SBA offers disaster assistance in the form of low-interest loans to businesses, renters, and homeowners located in regions affected by declared disasters.

We thank those who submitted information through the County's Damage Assessment Portal. That information helped the County make the case for disaster assistance. Those who submitted data to the damage assessment portal are required to apply for an SBA Disaster Assistance Loan if interested in this loan program.
