Thank you for your interest in becoming a volunteer at the Montgomery County Animal Services and Adoption Center! Volunteers are an integral part of our organization, and help improve the quality of life for the animals here at the shelter. There are a number of ways to get involved as an individual or a group, with everything from handling animals to working with the public to helping with administrative tasks.

Age Requirement: Volunteer applications are accepted for applicants 18 years of age or older.

Time Commitment: Volunteers are expected to volunteer at least 8 hours per month, and to commit to at least 6 months of volunteering.

Volunteer Shifts: Generally Monday-Friday (12-7pm) and Saturday-Sunday (12-5pm); the shelter is closed on county-observed holidays.

How to Become a Volunteer

Here are some of the basics to get you started:

1. Complete a Volunteer Application

If you wish to participate in the  Foster Program in addition to our general Volunteer Program, please complete a Foster Application too.

2.  Applicants will be screened, interviewed, and asked to complete a basic background check.

3. Pending background application process, volunteer will be invited to attend quarterly orientation session.

4. Volunteers must complete all necessary training(s) for their assigned position(s).

For Current Volunteers

Current MCASAC volunteers can log into  Volgistics to check or change their volunteer schedule, sign up for new volunteer shifts, or check their volunteer e-mail account for important updates. Current Volunteers who have forgotten their log-in and password or Inactive Volunteers can request that it be e-mailed to them by contacting
