Arliss Street Streetscape Project

Background

The Arliss Street Streetcape Project is located in East Silver Spring in the community of Long Branch.  This area is southeast of downtown Silver Spring.  This project is part of the Long Branch Pedestrian Linkages program and is funded under the County's Capital Improvement Program.

The Arliss Street Streetcape Project is the first phase of many to improve pedestrian flow and safety throught the Flower Village area of Long Branch.  The image of Long Branch has been preserved by adding new exposed aggregate sidewalks, Washington Globe pedestrian streetlights and street trees to compliment the new sidewalks.  The features of this streetscape are intended to compliment the character of the stabilized community.

Phase I of this streetscape project included the north side of Arliss Street from Flower Avenue to Walden Street.  Construction was completed in November of 2008.

Arliss Street Streetscape Phase II continued the streetscape standard on the north side of Arliss Street from Walden Street to Piney Branch Road.  Construction on this phase was completed in July 2011.
