CODE ENFORCEMENT DIVISION

The Code Enforcement Division is an essential link between the County and the citizens it serves. When the County acts proactively to investigate matters of concern, and then acts to solve neighborhood and community problems, citizens are more likely to believe that their government is responsive to their concerns. Citizens and community leaders must identify problems, and County agencies must address those problems. Code enforcement inspectors/officers are involved in resolving problems and, where necessary, issuing citations. The County Attorney’s Office is involved once a citation is issued and follows a process for each citation until the case is litigated through the District Court system and resolved. Code Enforcement requires team work to bring each case to a final resolution.

During the month of December, the team received 730 new citations during this month, as itemized below with the amount of $362,900 for fines sought by those citations. The County closed 187 outstanding cases after collecting fines of $59,150 and/or having violations abated, or referring cases to the Debt Collection Unit, during this month. A total of $285,730 has been collected in fines from outstanding cases for FY2026.
