Near Miss is an International Association of Fire Chiefs (IAFC)-managed program that collects and shares firefighter near-miss experiences.

The Everyone Goes Home Program, founded by the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, provides free training, resources, and programs to champion and implement the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. The goal of the Everyone Goes Home® Program is to reduce the number of preventable firefighter line-of-duty deaths and injuries.

Each year, vehicle crashes are a leading cause of death and injury for emergency responders and corporate employees. Yet few agencies provide regular training on vehicle operations and crash prevention. The "Drive to Survive" training program is designed to address this issue by teaching students HOW and WHY motor vehicle crashes occur.

The United States depends on about 1.1 million fire fighters to protect its citizens and property from fire. Approximately 336,000 are career fire fighters, 812,000 are volunteers, and 80 to 100 die in the line of duty each year. To address this occupational hazard, the NIOSH Fire Fighter Fatality Investigation and Prevention Program conducts independent investigations of fire fighter line-of-duty deaths.
