Appointments are held inside the firehouse and you will enter through the back of the building. As you face the fire station, there is a driveway entrance on the right-hand side of the building. Please drive down the driveway until you see an orange seat check sign directing you to turn left. Follow the cones to the last bay entrance and wait in your car to be directed inside the bay. Please do not drive to the front of the fire station and park in front of the bay doors – this is an active fire station and you will be blocking the fire engines and ambulances. - Please notify us of any cancellations or changes to your appointment ASAP. Cancellations should be made 24 hours before your appointment. Notifying us allows us to schedule others for that open spot. The link to cancel the appointment is above.
- Please read your car seat owner’s manual and, if possible, install the car seat as best you can prior to your appointment.
- Please bring your vehicle owner’s manual if you can.
- All new seats should be out of the box before your appointment time.
- We encourage you to bring your child with you so that we can assure proper fit of the harness straps. If your child will not be present, please sit them in the car seat and mark with a piece of tape where the top of their shoulders are on the car seat.
- If you have an unborn child, we will use dolls to demonstrate the proper use of the harness straps at your appointment.
- We want to make sure that you have the best educational experience possible at your appointment. It is important that you arrive on time to your appointment. If you are more than 10 minutes late, we might have to reschedule your appointment in order to meet the needs of others.
Inclement Weather or Other Events
The Car Seat Program reserves the right to cancel appointments if necessary (i.e., due to inclement weather). If your appointment if canceled, you will be notified by email and/or phone.If you have any question as to whether a seat check is cancelled, please call 240-777-2223 after 6 AM for morning appointments, after 10AM for afternoon appointments or after 4 PM for evening appointments, and there will be a recorded message if the seat check is cancelled. It is very rare that we cancel seat checks.
