Office of Food Systems Resilience Grants

The Office of Food Systems Resilience in partnership with the Office of Grants Management has established multiple grant programs to support the implementation of initiatives aligned with The Strategic Plan to End Childhood Hunger. In December 2023, the Montgomery County Council voted to approve Special Appropriation #24-37 to fund the implementation of programs related to the Strategic Plan to End Childhood Hunger, including:

  • FY24 School-Based Food Assistance Grant Program - $480,000 in grant funding for quickly actionable strategies that address food access challenges amongst families with children in MCPS.
  • FY24 Food as Medicine Grant Program - $450,000 in grant funding for innovative food as medicine programs that address diet-related health challenges in children ages 0-18.
  • FY24 SNAP Outreach Grant Program - $200,000 in grant funding for innovative approaches to connect Montgomery County families that are eligible, but not yet enrolled or maximizing, with Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits.
  • FY24 Resident and Community Gardening Grant Program: $200,000 in grant funding to support initiatives that expand resident and community food production capacity as a means of increasing local food security.

The OFSR’s Grant Hub website will serve as a center of information and resources for grantees working on these initiatives for the fiscal year 2024.
