Montgomery County Safe Routes to School Walk to School Day Contest

NO PURCHASE OR PAYMENT OF ANY KIND IS NECESSARY TO PARTICIPATE OR WIN THE MONTGOMERY COUNTY SAFE ROUTES TO SCHOOL CONTEST. A PURCHASE WILL NOT INCREASE YOUR CHANCE OF WINNING. MINORS MUST ASK THEIR PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN FOR PERMISSION TO PARTICIPATE. IF A PARTICIPANT IS AN ELIGIBLE MINOR, HIS OR HER PARENT OR LEGAL GUARDIAN AGREES TO THESE OFFICIAL RULES ALONG WITH AND ON BEHALF OF HIS OR HER MINOR CHILD.

  1. Eligibility: The Montgomery County Safe Routes to School Contest (the “Contest”) is open only to legal residents of Maryland, who are currently enrolled as a student of a Montgomery County Public School. Employees of Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery County Government, Sharp & Company and subsidiaries, affiliates and members of the immediate families (parent, child, or sibling) or households of any such employees, are not eligible to enter.
  2. Sponsor: The sponsor of this Contest is Montgomery County Department of Transportation, MD, located at 100 Edison Park Drive, 4 th Floor, Gaithersburg,MD 20878.
  3. Contest Period: The Contest period begins on September 11, 2017 at 12:00:00 a.m. Eastern Standard Time (“EST”) and ends on October 7, 2017 at 11:59:00 p.m. EST (the “Contest Period”).
  4. How to Enter: During the Contest Period, you may enter the Contest as follows:
    1. Online Entry: Entrants must go to http://www.montgomerycountymd.gov/dotpedsafety/srts/home.html and complete the Online Contest entry form in its entirety. When this form is submitted Entrant will receive one (1) entry into the Contest. Only complete and valid entries, as determined by the Sponsor and/or its  Judges, will be eligible for the Contest drawing. There is a limit of one (1) on-line entry per Entrant per day.  

    2. Additional Entry: Entrants may obtain one (1) additional entry per day in the Contest through one of the two the following methods:

Instagram/Twitter Entry: Submit an Instagram or Twitter photo during the Contest Period with a photo depicting the Entrant walking to school (the picture can be a selfie, it can be a picture of the path you walk on, or maybe you want to show us something cool along your walk that you see each day) and use the hashtag “#walk2schoolMOCO”. When a photo pertaining to these guidelines is submitted, Entrant will receive one (1) additional entry into the Contest. In order to receive entries by participating in an action on Instagram or Twitter your account MUST be set to public. If you do not have Instagram or Twitter, you may download it for free at your App Store or Google Play. Standard data fees may apply. See your wireless carrier for pricing plan details. Each wireless carrier’s instructions for scanning may be different. Check your wireless phone capabilities for specific instructions. By entering, Entrant grants Sponsor an  irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, freely transferable license to use the photo for  all purposes, in any and all media, whether now known or hereafter devised.  Photos must not be copied. Entries may not violate any third party rights nor use  any third-party intellectual property such as logos or background signs other than  those mentioned above. Entrants acknowledge and agree that their entry does not  violate any rights of privacy or publicity and that they have the written permission  of those appearing in their photo to submit their image. Entries must not disparage;  contain material that is inappropriate, indecent, or vulgar; or promote bigotry,  racism, hatred or discrimination based on race, gender, religion, or sexual  orientation. Use of any device to automate entry is prohibited. By entering this  Contest, you agree to acknowledge that this Contest is in no way sponsored, endorsed, or administered by or associated with Instagram or Twitter and you agree to hold Sponsor, Instagram, Twitter, and each of their parent, subsidiary and affiliated corporations, and the officers, shareholders, directors, employees, agents and representatives of same harmless against any and all claims or liability arising directly or indirectly from use or misuse of a prize or participation in the Contest.

    5. Email Entry: Entrant may also obtain one (1) additional entry per day by sending an email to shelley.johnson2@montgomerycountymd.gov with the subject line “Safe Routes to School Contest”. The email should contain the participant’s full name, school name, grade, email address, and phone number. There is a limit of twenty-seven (27) online Entries, and twenty-seven (27) additional Entries via Instagram or Twitter or email regardless, for a total offifty-four (54) Entries per Entrant.
  5. Selection of Winners: All winners are subject to verification. On or about October 16, 2017 four (4) winners will be selected at random by the Sponsor from among all eligible entries received. Odds of winning will depend upon the number of eligible entries received.
  6. Winner Verification and Notification: The potential winners will be notified by telephone or email, as determined solely by Sponsor, on or around October 17, 2017 on how to claim their prize. If a potential winner cannot be reached within twenty-four (24) hours of the initial notification attempt, he or she may be disqualified and the prize awarded to an alternate winner If a potential winner fails to respond to any notification attempt within the time period specified by Sponsor, or if any attempted notification or prize delivery is returned as undeliverable, the potential winner will be disqualified and forfeit his/her prize. Potential winners (and any minor winner’s parent or legal guardian on behalf of himself or herself and on behalf of the minor) may be required to complete, sign and return Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability Release/Model Release forms, and other applicable documents, which may require a social security number, before claiming his/her prize, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. If a potential winner is a minor in his/her state of residence, the prize will be awarded to the minor’s parent or legal guardian and the parent or legal guardian will be required to complete, sign and return the Affidavit of Eligibility/Liability/Model Release forms. If a potential winner fails to complete and return any required affidavit and/or release within the period of time specified by Sponsor, the potential winner may be disqualified and forfeit his/her prize. All decisions of Sponsor shall be binding and final. By participating in the contest, entrants consent to the use of the entrant’s name, photograph, likeness, biography, voice and/or video for promotional purposes, including, but not limited to, online and on-air announcements, signage, posters, television, magazine articles, websites, social media sites (including, but not limited to Facebook and Twitter), and any other publication(s) at Sponsors’ sole discretion, worldwide and without limitation, and without additional compensation or consideration, except where prohibited by law. In the event of a conflict between the entry instructions and these contest rules, these contest rules shall control.
  7. Prizes: The prizes consist of four (4) $50 Chipotle or Chick-Fil-A gift Cards. Total ARV of all prizes is $200.00. No substitution, cash redemption, or transfer of right to receive any prize will be allowed.

General Rules: Sponsor reserves the right at its sole discretion to disqualify any individual who tampers with the entry process and/or to cancel, modify or suspend this Contest should entrant fraud or misconduct or other causes beyond the control of the Sponsor corrupt the administration, integrity, security or proper operation of the Contest. Sponsor is not responsible for any typographical or other error in the printing of the offer, administration of the Contest, or in the announcement of the prize. Each entrant releases and agrees to hold Sponsor harmless from and against any and all claims and liability arising from or in connection with participation in this Contest, use of the entrant’s mobile phone as permitted hereunder and/or use or redemption of the prize. Entrants assume all liability for any injury or damage caused, or claimed to be caused, by participation in this Contest or use or redemption of the prize. All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Sponsor is not responsible for lost, late, illegible, incomplete, damaged, corrupted, mutilated, misdirected, misdelivered, undelivered, blocked or delayed entries or other communications, or for technical or human errors, delays or failures of any kind in connection with the submission, transmission, processing, storage or selection of entries, including, without limitation, any malfunctions or failures of computer hardware, computer software, networks or telephone equipment, any data loss or corruption, or any technical problems or traffic congestion on the Internet or at any website or any combination thereof. Caution: Any attempt by a participant to deliberately damage any Web site or undermine the legitimate operation of the Contest is a violation of criminal and/or civil laws and should such an attempt be made, Sponsor reserves the right to seek damages from any such participant to the fullest extent of the law. Sponsor reserves the right to cancel, suspend and/or modify the Contest, or any part of it, if any fraud, technical failures or any other factor beyond Sponsor’s reasonable control impairs the integrity or proper functioning of the Contest, as determined by Sponsor in its sole discretion. Sponsor’s failure to enforce any term of these Official Rules shall not constitute a waiver of that provision. Issues concerning the construction, validity, interpretation and enforceability of these Official Rules shall be governed by the laws of Montgomery County, Maryland All disputes arising out of or connected with this Contest will be resolved individually, and without resort to class action, exclusively by a state or federal court located in Montgomery County, Maryland.
  9. Use of Entry Information: The Sponsor will not use submitted information for any purpose other than to contact the potential winners.
