2014 Awards of ExcellenceDHCA received an Award of Excellence for the UpCounty Focus Neighborhood Program at Cinnamon Woods from the Natl Assn of Housing Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO). Code Enforcement July Sign SweepDHCA Housing Code Enforcement Inspectors McCreary, Whitby, Lundy, Aklilu, White, Jolly and Eloisa participated with staff from DPS and other County departments in the July Sign Sweep to clean up signs from the County rights-of-way. 2500 signs were delivered to the transfer station where they were separated for recycling.
UpCounty Focused Neighborhood Assistance Program Receives Two National AwardsThe Nat'l Assn. of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) Award of Excellence: Community Revitalization; and the Nat'l Assn. of Counties (NACo) Award of Outstanding Achievement. Program included the exterior renovation of 122 homes.
Ground Breaking of The Bonifant at Silver SpringOn June 12, 2014 County Executive Leggett joined Montgomery Housing Partnership and The Donohoe Companies at the ground breaking of The Bonifant at Silver Spring, a high rise building with 149 mixed-income apts. for seniors (62+). It is next door to the new Silver Spring Library.
