Montgomery County Public Libraries

Current Phase: Design

Sheladia Associates, Inc. submitted the bid documents and the design is complete. The building permit is on hold. Construction is scheduled for July 1, 2026.

Sheladia and Associates has designed the McGee Library Refurbishment in accordance with the Program of Requirements previously developed for the library.
The Program of Requirements called for replacing the exterior sliding doors with swing out doors, replacing the vinyl flooring and carpeting, exchanging the children's play area and stacks to reduce the noise in the 4th floor meeting rooms along with adding a ceiling in the meeting rooms, replacing defective windowblinds, adjusting the slope of the glass canopy over the cafe entrance to better drain, replacing damaged and dirty furniture, installing 3 new service desks (oneon each floor), new water fountains with bottle filling stations, repairing walls, adding corner guards and repainting.
In a separate project, interior window film was added in the rotunda and south walls in December of 2024.
