Long Branch Walkway Bridge and Trail
Focused Neighborhood Assistance Project

The Long Branch Walkway Bridge and Trail project, completed in 2015, provides residents of the surrounding community with a safe, beautifully designed walkway trail and bridge over the Long Branch Stream Valley Park. The project replaced an inadequately lit steep trail and narrow bridge.

Improvements included a new 520 foot long trail with varying widths between five to eight feet and a new 180 foot long and 10 foot wide bridge with new LED energy efficient lighting. The trail and bridge are accessible and compliant to meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements and continue to serve as passive recreation, providing access for pedestrians and cyclists in the Long Branch community.

The project was made possible through $1.16 million in HUD CDBG funding and $742,000 in MD State Highway Administration Earmark funding.
