Here's How You can Help
As more refugees resettle to Montgomery County and Maryland, here is a list of organizations working to ensure that our new neighbors feel at home.

The International Rescue Committee is headquartered in downtown Silver Spring. They have been supporting the resettlement of Afghan Special Immigrant Visa (SIV) holders in the DMV. IRC has also been collecting gift cards, settling people into homes and mentor families transitioning in the area.

Lutheran Immigration and Refugee Service (LIRS) has been hosting donation drives for everything from diapers, school supplies, to toothpaste and toys, all for the Afghan families that are going to resettle in the DMV area.
-
Adventist Community Services of Greater Washington is a local organization working to resettle Afghan refugees, coordinate volunteers, conduct food and clothing drives and provide other wrap-around services to ensure refugees are fully supported.
-
I Support the Girls is collecting tens of thousands of bras, new underwear and pads to ensure newly arrived Afghan refugee families in Houston, DC, Seattle, and Denver don’t have to choose between buying food or a pad.
-
CCI Health and Wellness Services is one of the two health centers in the state that is responsible for helping to provide Afghan Refugees with health screenings and access to comprehensive medical care upon arrival to the US.

Welcome Us is a coalition of private, nonprofit and government officials who have centralized the various ways we can help welcome refugees. On the site you can find information about volunteering, donating, sponsoring a family or hosting a newcomer through Airbnb.
