Crimes Against Children: Abduction

Abduction, also known as kidnapping, is a crime that occurs when someone, using force or fraud, moves a person against their will, either within or outside of Maryland, with the intent to conceal them.

This crime includes:

  • Restraining a victim's freedom.
  • Acting against their will.
  • Carrying the victim to another location.

It's important to note that kidnapping can also happen when a parent takes a child out of the state in violation of a legal custody order.
