Senior and Vulnerable Adult Abuse: Victim Services

Adult Protective Services

Adult Protective Services is a state mandated program that investigates allegations of abuse, neglect, self, self neglect and/or exploitation of vulnerable adults. The program provides professional services to reduce risk factors and promote protection of the health, safety and welfare of endangered, vulnerable adults. A vulnerable adult is one who lacks the physical or mental capacity to provide for his/her daily needs.

Adult public guardianship program

The adult public guardianship program provides surrogate decision making for disabled adults adjudicated as incapacitated by the Circuit Court, and in need of the service. The program provides case management under the direction of the court and is only considered when there are no other alternatives.
