Who We Are

The Montgomery County Department of Transportation (MCDOT) is committed to delivering the first-rate, multimodal transportation system that Montgomery County needs. We’re a diverse organization that provides essential services to our County residents. We build and maintain the transportation infrastructure; reduce traffic congestion; increase mobility; improve pedestrian, bicyclist and vehicle safety; provide essential transit and alternative transportation services; and promote access to our central business districts. MCDOT ensures that the County has a well-functioning, balanced transportation system that uses our roads more efficiently and supports more walking, bicycling and transit use.

MCDOT is proud to provide the highest quality service to our customers, and this could not be accomplished without the commitment and talent of the MCDOT workforce. Our more than 1,300 outstanding employees are dedicated to ensuring that our travel options are safe, efficient and well-maintained and that we are providing the very best transportation network possible for our community.

MCDOT is planning for a future with more jobs, more people and more options – and the community is our partner in creating a transformative transportation system. It’s one that meets our needs now while evolving and innovating to meet the transportation challenges of the future.

MCDOT and the community: Working together to keep Montgomery County moving forward.
