Metro Summer 2026 Red Line Construction

From July 6 through September 7, 2026, Metro will be undertaking major construction work on the Red Line. During this time, train service will be suspended between North Bethesda and Friendship Heights.

To help riders get around the work zone, free shuttle buses will connect the following stations: Grosvenor-Strathmore, Medical Center, and Bethesda.

Red Line service will operate in two separate segments with trains running every six minutes during daytime hours:

Shady Grove to North Bethesda
Friendship Heights to Glenmont
