The Veirs Mill Road Bicycle and Pedestrian Improvements Project is a set of planned changes to Veirs Mill Road between Robindale Drive and Galt Avenue and on some surrounding streets. These projects are a component of the Veirs Mill Road Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) Project and are expected to be constructed in conjunction with that project.

The project will provide continuous pedestrian facilities on both sides of Veirs Mill Road from Robindale Drive to Galt Avenue. On the south side of Veirs Mill Road, this will take the form of a sidewalk. On the north side of Veirs Mill Road, this will take the form of a shared-use path, except where a service road is present. Along service roads, a sidewalk will be provided. The project will also include additional safe crossings of Veirs Mill Road for pedestrians to reduce the distance between locations where it is safe to cross.

Some sidewalk and crossing improvements are also planned on Randolph Road between Selfridge Road and Connecticut Avenue.

As this project will be constructed in conjunction with the Veirs Mill Road BRT project, additional improvements to bus stops and changes to the roadway to allow buses to move through the corridor more quickly will also be included. For more detail on the transit improvements, please visit our Veirs Mill BRT webpage.

Status
The bicycle and pedestrian improvements element are at 35% design as of Summer 2022.

Construction is expected to start in 2025 with completion in 2027.
