The Dennis Avenue Sidewalk Project proposes the installation of a 5-foot-wide, ADA-compliant, concrete sidewalk along Dennis Avenue in Silver Spring from Georgia Avenue to Douglas Avenue. Because the proposed sidewalk will be placed in the existing roadway, there are no construction impacts to the County’s public right-of-way and, therefore, no trees will need to be removed. The existing westbound lane of Dennis Avenue is currently 16-feet-wide. The 5-foot-wide concrete sidewalk will be placed adjacent to the curb with an additional curb between the sidewalk and remaining 11-feet of roadway in the westbound lane for traffic.
The Dennis Avenue Sidewalk Proposal was issued on September 17, 2020. The comment period closed on October 9, 2020. Construction is anticipated in the Summer of 2021.
