Legal Services for Victims of Domestic Violence, Sexual Assault, Human Trafficking, and Other Crimes

The organizations below offer legal services (eg, protective orders, victim advocacy, etc.) to both immigrants and non-immigrants. For information on organizations that provide immigration legal services for immigrant victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and other crimes, visit our Immigration Legal Services page.

General

  • Victim Assistance and Sexual Assault Program (VASAP)
    • Assists victims of crimes such as rape/sexual assault, homicide, driving while intoxicated (DWI), car jacking, torture, hate crimes, arson, larceny, robbery, auto theft and vandalism. Provides information and referral, advocacy, crisis and ongoing counseling, support and compensation services for victims of crimes committed in Montgomery County or crime victims who live in Montgomery County.

  • Maryland Crime Victims’ Resource Center : 301-952-0063 or 1-877-VICTIM-1
    • Provides free legal representation, counseling, and advocacy services for victims of crime.
  • Maryland Court Information Regarding Criminal Cases
    • Provides information on how to file charges if someone commits a crime against you, as well as information for those who are arrested for a crime.

Domestic Violence

    • Walk-ins welcome, no need for appointment.
    • All services are free of charge and can be provided in any language.
    • Provides legal services, social services, counseling, and other services to victims of domestic violence and their children.  Anyone who is experiencing, or has experienced, domestic violence is eligible to receive services.
  • Maryland Legal Aid Bureau - Offers holistic civil legal assistance to victims of domestic violence and sexual abuse.

  • House of Ruth- Domestic Violence Legal Clinic: 1-888-880-7884
    • Provides legal advice and assists domestic violence victims with protective orders, family law issues (custody, divorce, etc.), and other legal assistance.

    • ​Provides direct representation to survivors of Intimate Partner Violence who are seeking protective orders primarily in the courts of Montgomery County, MD and Fairfax County, VA.

    • Provides affordable legal services to domestic violence survivors on a sliding scale, based on ability to pay.

Sexual Assault

Human Trafficking
