Letter to State Lawmakers on Law Enforcement Officer's Bill of Rights

Public transparency is a critical component of public trust. Under existing Maryland law, the Law Enforcement Officer’s Bill of Rights (LEOBR) and the Maryland Public Information Act prevent elected officials and the general public from obtaining basic information about the actions and backgrounds of our law enforcement personnel. I authored a letter with Councilmembers Will Jawando and Hans Riemer asking members of the General Assembly to repeal LEOBR so that we can begin to restore trust between the police and the communities they serve.
