Law Enforcement Trust and Transparency Act (LETT)

On January 15, 2019, I introduced my first piece of legislation as a member of the Montgomery County Council. Bill 1-19, the Law Enforcement Trust and Transparency (LETT) Act. This is bill would require an independent investigation in the event of an officer involved death in the county. The bill would also require that a report be submitted to the County’s State’s Attorney and be made public if criminal charges are not filed. Independence, Transparency and building trust, that’s what this bill is about. For community members to feel safe and for our officers to be able to do their jobs.
