Inmate Accounting is part of the Fiscal Section, which is responsible for the safekeeping of funds received on behalf of the inmate, through the mail or from visitors.

What form of payment do you accept for deposit into an inmates account?
We accept money orders, cashier checks, certified checks or government issued checks against inmate accounts.
Do you accept cash?
No.
How much money can be deposited into an inmates account?
There is no limit on the amount of money that can be deposited into inmate accounts.
Can we wire or western union funds?
We do not accept wire or western union funds.
When are commissary orders placed and received?
Commissary orders are placed from Friday through Wednesday; order deadline is Wednesday and Saturday is delivery day.
When is the last day/time to drop off money in order to make the commissary deadline?
Acceptable funds must be received by 8:00 a.m. Wednesday.
Can I drop off money anytime during the day?
Acceptable funds may be dropped off during the facility hours of operation.
What are some of the basic hygiene items that can be ordered from the commissary?
Soap, toothpaste, deodorant, socks and underwear, etc.
Can you mail me a copy of the commissary item list with prices?
We cannot mail a copy of the commissary item list, however; if you contact our office we can provide an average cost of items. Telephone: 240-773-9731.
Do you accept insurance, personal or payroll checks?
No.
How much money is in my son's/daughter's account?
We cannot disclose any financial information to family members and/or friends.
Who do I make the money order payable to?
Make the money order payable to the inmate; include first and last names and facility identification number to avoid delays in processing.
If I omit an inmate's identification number; will the funds be posted to the correct account?
Fund will be posted to the inmate's account but processing may be delayed.
When does an inmate have access to his/her funds?
An inmate has access to his/her funds as soon as they are posted; which is usually by the close of business the following day.
Upon transfer/release, how do I obtain my funds from the facility?
1. All money may be picked up at Montgomery County Detention Center (MCDC) the next day following
release.
2. If you cannot pick up money personally, you may write a letter authorizing the release of funds to a
third party.
How can an inmate release money to an outside party?
All money release requests are processed on the 1st and 15th of each month. An inmate can release all or part of their funds by completing a money release request.
