Request for Renewable Energy Proposals
Purchase of Electricity from Solar Photovoltaic Systems Hosted on Montgomery County Facilities (OPPORTUNITY CLOSED)

Wind Mill Farm

On 4/22/2015, Earth Day, the County issued a Request for Energy Proposals (RFEP) for renewable energy credits (RECs) to meet the County and partner agencies clean energy purchasing commitments. RECs represent the clean energy attributes of electricity generated from sources such as solar energy and wind power. The County anticipates purchasing RECs for 2016 and 2017 with options for 2018 and 2019. This RFEP includes the following agencies and municipalities Montgomery County Government, Montgomery County Public Schools, Montgomery College, the Maryland National Capital Park and Planning Commission, Chevy Chase Village, Chevy Chase Village Section5, City of Gaithersburg, City of Rockville, City of Takoma Park, Town of Kensington, and Town of Somerset. Each of these entities has committed to between 20% and 100% clean energy. Collectively, this team has routinely achieved high ranks on the EPA Green Power Partnership, ranking 5th amongst local governments and 22nd amongst all purchasers. Montgomery County Government is also required, as party of County Bill 9-14, to purchase 100% clean electricity to offset the environmental impact of operations.
