Pre-Release and Reentry (PRRS) Services provides both paid and unpaid intern experiences. Intern work experiences can include:

  • Assist in supervising and monitoring residents within the facility and in the community
  • Organize and supervise leisure activities for residents
  • Act as role model and mentor for residents
  • Learn and practice communication and crisis intervention skills
  • Administer alcohol and drug tests
  • Provide assistance with security, safety and orderly operations of the facility
  • Tutor residents
  • Case management
  • Assist residents with career resources
  • Research projects

Community Corrections Internships (Paid)

Requirements

  • At least 21 years of age
  • Completion of at least two years of college, with one year in criminal justice, behavioral science, or human services related discipline
  • Valid Driver's License with no restrictions
  • Must be able to pass a background investigation and physical exam to include drug screening
  • Selection through an in-person interview
  • A maximum of 24 hours per week
  • A minimum of a four month commitment to internship

Academic Internships (unpaid)

In conjunction with a college or university, PRRS offers supervision for various human services related degrees. Time commitment and responsibilities vary with respect to school requirements and staff availability. Contact Internship Coordinator for inquiries.
