Needwood Road Bike Path Phase II

The project provides a shared use path over approximately 1.7 miles of distance in two phases. The Phase I provides an eight feet wide shared use path along the south side of Needwood Road over approximately 2,400 feet of length from the beginning of Nature Trail, west of Lake Needwood to the ICC Trail terminus. The Phase II provides an eight feet wide shared use path along the south side of Needwood Road from Deer Lake Road to the beginning of Nature Trail and continues from the east terminus of ICC Trail to Muncaster Mill Road (MD 115). Some portions of the shared used path where the soil is suitable will be constructed in pervious pavement whereas the rest will be constructed in bituminous concrete. A new six feet wide concrete sidewalk will be constructed over a distance of 8oo feet of length along the east of Muncaster Mill Road from Needwood Road to the northern entrance of Colonel Zadok Magruder High School. This project is approved for $860,000 from Maryland Department of Transportation for the design and construction for Phase I of the project. Due to the requirements of the grant, the construction for Phase I must be completed within two years from the grant was awarded.

Project is currently under construction and is expected to be completed by Mid Summer 2019
