Safety RulesWe are dedicated to safety at the Shady Grove Transfer Station. Below are safety rules for use of the Public Unloading Facility (PUF) and the Upper Lot, the grinding operation, and the tipping floor.

Tipping Floor

The staff at the Montgomery County Shady Grove Processing Facility and Transfer Station and the Recycling Center are working to increase safety at our facility.

Safety Presentations & Reports

Hauler Safety Presentation – This presentation is designed to provide a general safety overview of operations at the Transfer Station and Material Recovery Facility.  It provides information on personal safety and behavior, vehicle movement guidelines, emergency protocols, incident reporting information, and FAQ’s about operations.    


Commercial Vehicle Presentation – This presentation was prepared and presented by the Montgomery Conty Police Department – Commercial Vehicle Unit’s Traffic Division.  The purpose of this presentation is to provide an overview of commercial vehicle codes, State law violations, awareness, safety, violations,  and other information on safety and operational awareness of vehicles that use and/or access the Transfer Station and Materials Recovery Facility.


Hauler Observation Report – This is the form that will be used to document violations of the County’s Operational and safety policies at the Transfer Station and Material Recovery Facility.  Violation notices will also be sent to the violators company.
