The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) Waste Reduction and Recycling Section (WRRS) estimates that businesses and organizations dispose approximately 33,600 tons of food scraps in their waste annually. Montgomery County provides technical assistance, education and training to businesses and organizations to assist them with implementing a commercial food scraps recycling program. Building a Stronger Food Scraps Recycling Program in Commercial Settings will highlight practical steps businesses, organizations and government facilities can take to improve operations and make food scraps recycling more effective. In this one‑hour session, experts will share tools, strategies, and real examples to help commercial facilities enhance or expand their food scraps recycling efforts.
