Old Farm Creek Stream Restoration
This project is part of Montgomery County's ongoing effort to restore degraded streams and enhance aquatic habitat and reduce pollution caused by stream erosion in our local streams and the Chesapeake Bay. The Montgomery County Department of Environmental Protection in conjunction with Maryland-National Park and Planning Commission (MNCPPC) and local residents with the Luxmanor Citizens Association have developed design plans for a stream restoration project in a tributary to Old Farm Creek. The project is located south of Executive Boulevard, west of Old Georgetown Road, and north of Neilwood Drive in North Bethesda. The project was identified as a priority project in the Cabin John Watershed Study (2004).
Construction of the project began in August 2025 and expected to be completed in March 2026. Various public events were held throughout the design phase of the project to allow residents in the Luxmanor Civic Association to comment on project plans. The project will restore and stabilize 1,650 feet of the stream from its start at a storm drain pipe outfall, located west of Old Georgetown Road, to the Luxmanor Local Park.
